ASC History
The Aurora Soccer Club has a rich heritage of providing top quality senior soccer to Aurora and surrounding York Region.
Since 1954, the Club has provided opportunities for local men and women to participate in senior soccer at both the competitive and recreational level.
Our pedigree of success over the past 50 years is unparalleled in York Region and continually draws players and supporters from around the area.
The mission of the Aurora Soccer Club is to continue to provide opportunities for local men and women and graduating youth soccer players to participate at various levels of competition.
It is our goal through self funding and corporate sponsorship to maintain and enhance the best soccer facility in York Region as a haven for soccer enthusiasts.
We sincerely believe that by providing these opportunities we will collectively contribute to the local community and economy for the betterment of the Town of Aurora.
The Aurora Soccer Club was founded in 1954 and became a founding member of the Newmarket and District Soccer Association.
In 1964 the Club formed the Aurora Minor Soccer Association providing opportunities for over 400 boys to play soccer.
The Club operated the minor soccer program until 1971, which is known today as the Aurora Youth Soccer Club.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s the Club primarily operated two men’s teams – United and Rangers.
Both teams experienced considerable success during this period regularly winning league titles and the prestigious Jim Richardson Cup.
The 1980’s and 1990’s brought an explosion of soccer, as well as population, to Aurora.
In 1984, the Club was able to secure a lease for Highland Park with the Town of Aurora establishing our own playing facility.
Located just off Yonge Street on Industrial Parkway South, Highland Park was named after gracious sponsorship from the Highland Chev Olds car dealership.
Since that time, the Clubhouse has been built by Club members through internal funding and now offers dressing rooms with showers, and an LCBO licensed pub complete with large screen TV, dartboards and historical Club memorabilia.
Highland Park has become the premier soccer facility in York Region.
The Clubhouse is fully licensed and offers a comfortable and friendly British pub atmosphere to Club members and local soccer supporters throughout the year.
The public is always welcome. The Club has flourished and now supports 7 senior teams (men’s, women’s and old timers) with over 150 Club members.
By promoting social memberships as well, the Club is a gathering place for senior soccer enthusiasts in the area, providing regular social events in addition to hosting local and international soccer activities.
The Aurora Soccer Club is affiliated with the Ontario Soccer Association and operates men’s and women's teams in the York Region Soccer League (YRSL), Ontario Women’s Soccer League (OWSL), and a premier men's team in the Ontario Soccer League (OSL) – the highest level of competitive soccer in Ontario.
With a rich heritage of success, the Aurora Hearts captured the Ontario Cup and 3rd Place Bronze Medal in the Canadian Senior Men’s Soccer Championships in 2001. In recent years, the Hearts captured the OSL Cup in 2003.
With a pedigree of championship soccer teams over the past 50 years, the ASC continues to promote the best competitive and recreational soccer for senior players in the region.
2004 marked a significant milestone for the Club – it was our semicentennial year, celebrating 50 years in operation!
Today, the Club is still operated by volunteers who contribute substantial effort in operating the Club for the benefit of Club members and Town residents.
